After 3 wonderful and tiring days in Algarve I can honestly say that I regret booking just 3 nights on the sea side and that I must come back! To live there! 🙈 This side of Portugal has a lot to offer and we enjoyed every minute of our stay! We saw some of the most beautiful beaches ever, walked around the small towns, swam in the cold waters of Atlantic, visited some breathtaking caves, drank good wine and had a lot of fun!

We rented a car because it is the best way to get around Portugal, if you don't plan to spend your entire holiday in one place. But next time we come to Algarve (and there's going to be a next time) we're gonna rent a scooter. The roads are beautiful, the distances are small, road marks are everywhere and very efficient to ge around and I'm sure it's much more pleasant to go from one beach to another with a scooter.

The highlights of Algarve (in my completely subjective opinion) are: Ponta da Piedade, Praia Dona Alba, Praia do Camilo and Benagil Caves. I also walked around Portimao, Albufeira and Lagos and I was impressed by the charm, colors, architecture and warm people from these small towns! If you find yourself in Albufeira and you're looking for a place to eat, try Restaurant Cabana Fresca. We had our most delicious Cataplana! Be sure you're very hungry, before ordering, because they have large portions. If you're in a cocktail mood, try also one of their cocktails. They are not the gratest, but the presentation is fun. 😉

Obidos and Porto were our next destinations, but about them and Lisbon, in a later post. I'm sure that it's going to be hard to beat the beautiful Algrave, but one can only hope!
